Risk - Discography (1988-1993)

Risk - Discography (1988-1993)

Risk was a German thrash metal band from Witten. The group published from 1988 to 1993 a total of five albums and one MCD.

Risk grew out of the progressive rock band Faithful Breath. The last active line-up at Heinz Mikus (vocals), Thilo Hermann (guitar), Peter Dell (bass) and Jürgen Düsterloh (drums) and adapted its name to the popular mid-1980s thrash metal style. [1] Thilo Hermann, who was also still active with Holy Moses, played with the group a demo. The band got a record deal with the SPV label. The debut album The Daily Horror News ... (... from the lost side of the world) was published in 1988 with Roman Keymer (ex-Angel Dust) as a guitarist. Singer Heinz Mikus played a second guitar. To the reputation of the group, the cover of this and the following albums contributed, which were drawn by Sebastian Krüger in comic style. [1]
1988, the group toured with Sabbath and Rage on tour in Germany and 1989 in the opening act of Manowar through Europe. Meanwhile Thilo Herrmann returned to the group. 1989 also appeared the album Hell's Animal, which sells about 15,000 times, and the Ratman EP. [1] developed in 1990 by Dirty Surfaces with 25,000 copies sold, the biggest success of the group. Risk occurs in Prague together with Running Wild before about 25,000 fans. [1] For Thilo Hermann Christian Sumser a rose.
After that, the group loses its status slowly. The album Reborn (1992) marked a departure from the fun image of the band represents the group had always understood differently, as have the cover of the Kruger transported. Reborn had a rather serious cover by Andreas Marschall. Musically, the group is breaking new ground. The concept album about the ancient Indian god Ravana is lined with sitar sounds and more oriented towards the power metal. [2] The subsequent tour with Gamma Ray runs moderately successful. Roman Keymer suffered on a Rage Against the Machine concert sudden hearing loss, but declared himself ready with the album turpitude einzuspielen. SPV then not renew the contract, the band finally dissolved shortly thereafter.

Britny Fox - Discography (1988-2002)

Britny Fox was an American glam metal band from the Philadelphia area, initially active from 1985 to 1992 then subsequently reforming in 2000. They are best known for their music video for "Girlschool" and their hit "Long Way to Love". Britny Fox formed in 1985 in Philadelphia. The band was originally fronted by lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist "Dizzy" Dean Davidson.

The band released a demo titled In America in 1986, which drummer Tony Destra reportedly played on. The band's self-titled debut album, released in 1988, was one of the most successful premieres of the 1988-89 season, selling more than one million copies and bringing more than 625,000 fans to their 130+ shows.

They also won Metal Edge Magazine's 1988 Reader's Choice Award for Best New Band. After the release of the band's second album in 1989, Boys in Heat, Davidson departed, and formed the band Blackeyed Susan. He was replaced by Las Vegas native Tommy Paris aka Don Jillson formerly of the band Jillson.

Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde and Poison drummer Rikki Rockett guested on the band's third album, Bite Down Hard, which was released in 1991, was a strong return to form. However, the popularity of glam metal was on a decline around the time of the album's release due to the rising popularity of the grunge movement. Britny Fox disbanded in 1992.

Michael Kelly Smith was previously in an early version of fellow Philadelphia glam metal band Cinderella until his dismissal, and later Tony Destra also played with them.Drummer Adam West, formerly of Tangier, played for Britny Fox briefly between the time of Tony Destra and Johnny Dee.

Britny Fox reunited in 2000 with the same line up before their disbandment, and released a fourth studio album, Springhead Motorshark, in 2003. The band has had summer US and European tours in 2007 and 2008. Guitarist Tommy Krash and former White Lion drummer Greg D'Angelo was supposed to join at that time, but he broke his foot during rehearsal and was replaced with Henry Now.

As of 2007, Britny Fox reformed under original bassist Billy Childs. The other current and former members are lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Jamie Fletcher, lead guitarist Greg Polcari, and drummer Henry Now.

Hailing from Jacksonville, FL, a city with a storied musical history; Big Engine roars through biker rallies from Daytona to Sturgis, as well as clubs, and NASCAR events amassing an army of gear heads, bikers, and race fans known affectionately as 'Big Engine Freaks'.

Even after playing over 150 shows a year, people just can't get enough of Big Engine's fun, old-school style rock shows, and their high energy music. Along with the 'Big Engine Freaks' that follow the boys from town to town, the uninitiated seldom last the entirety of the show without raising their fists in the air and singing along to the band's catchy choruses and instantly memorable lyrics.

Founded and fronted by Tony Mikus, Big Engine hits the highway, bringing the party from town to town with crowd favorites: "Shake That Thing", "That Girl's a Freak", "Turn It On", "Party Like A Rock Star", and "Sister Mary." His voice is unique and powerful; and he commands the stage with the confidence and wit of a true rock n' roll front man. He is also Big Engine's primary songwriter.

Tony says Big Engine's current album: 'Shot Like A Rocket', released in 2014 through Pavement Entertainment/MRI Sony Red is "Big Engine's most popular release to date. The 14 songs are a combination of favorites picked by the fans from previous releases along with a handful of new tunes that make it an entertaining hour of pure Big Engine!" "Fans tell me all the time how much they love 'Shot Like A Rocket'! They say it's exciting, fun, relatable music therapy with something for every mood. This album makes them want to get up and move, and they feel it has the magic that made the Rock music of the 70s and 80s so captivating. Shot Like A Rocket is built to last, just like Big Engine!"

Bigelf - Discography (1997-2014)

Bigelf is a progressive rock/progressive metal band formed in Los Angeles, CA in 1991.

Bigelf were formed as a psychedelic/glam-tinged hard rock outfit in 1991 in Los Angeles, California by Damon Fox and Richard Anton. They initially gained a large underground following. Bigelf's original line-up included Damon Fox (vocals/keyboards/guitar), Richard Anton (vocals/bass), A.H.M. Butler-Jones (vocals/guitar) and Thom Sullivan (drums).

The quartet recorded the six-track EP Closer to Doom in spring 1995, co-produced by Sylvia Massy. Closer to Doom was released in 1996 and established them as 'fathers' of the psychedelic doom movement that spawned the Los Angeles stoner rock scene. The first line-up change came when Steve Frothingham replaced Sullivan in late 1995; soon afterward founding member Richard Anton exited the band.

Continuing on as a three-piece, they recorded Money Machine in summer 1997, which Swedish label Record Heaven eventually released in 2000. This led the band to tour Scandinavia, where they became a quartet again with the addition of Finnish bass player Duffy Snowhill, who debuted on their six-track EP Goatbridge Palace. Recorded in Stockholm in December 2000, it featured the singles "(Another)Nervous Breakdown" and "Side Effects" plus four live tracks, one being a cover of the Black Sabbath classic "Sweet Leaf". Serjical Strike Records released a limited pressing of Money Machine in the United States after System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian took an interest in the band. In summer 2001, Butler-Jones fell into a diabetic coma while on tour in Sweden (he would remain unconscious until his death on December 31, 2009 at the age of 42). Ace Mark (also from Helsinki, Finland) took his place on guitar, leaving Fox as the sole singer and songwriter.

Regaining focus with a new, solid foundation, Bigelf signed with Warner Music Sweden in 2002 and released Hex the following year. The band attained cult status overseas, most notably in Northern Europe.

In 2007, Bigelf covered John Lennon's song "Mother" with American pop singer Christina Aguilera for the compilation album Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur to benefit Amnesty International's campaign to alleviate the crisis in Darfur. The song received positive reviews.

August 2008 saw Bigelf release Cheat The Gallows, the band's debut release for Linda Perry's Custard Records. It includes the lead single "Money, It's Pure Evil".[3]

In 2009, Bigelf toured with Dream Theater on their Progressive Nation 2009 tour. They were originally billed alongside Opeth and Unexpect on the European leg of the tour from September to November, but after Pain of Salvation and Beardfish were forced to drop out because of the bankruptcy of SPV, their record label's (InsideOut) distributor, Bigelf were also added to the North American tour as an opening act alongside Zappa Plays Zappa between July and August.[4] The band once again supported Dream Theater as their opening act for the Mexican, Canadian, and South American tour in March 2010. In April 2010, Bigelf supported Porcupine Tree on their US Tour.

After being dropped from Custard Records the band went on indefinite hiatus after playing several festival shows in Japan in August 2010.

In September 2012, Fox announced via the band's Facebook and website that a new Bigelf album was in the making.

On April 3, 2013, Inside Out Music announced Bigelf had signed with the label and would release a new album later that year.Fox recruited former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy to play on the new record Into the Maelstrom, according both to the Inside Out announcement and to Portnoy's own Twitter feed.Guitarist Luis Maldonado was also invited to "take some solos and add some color" to the album and also to perform with the band on the Progressive Nation at Sea cruise ship festival on February 18–22, 2014 as well as festivals that summer

In October 2014, guitarist John Wesley of Porcupine Tree and Mike Portnoy joined Bigelf as guest performers during their winter 2014 "Into the Maelstrom" European tour.

Venom - Discography (1985-1997)

Black Metal band from Newcastle, Tyne and Wear U.K. founded in 1979.

With the release of their second album: Black Metal they gave birth and name to a genre: Black Metal, they also influenced the creation of other Extreme Metal styles such as Thrash, Speed and Death.

* By some, the band is considered to be a part of the NWOBHM movement, but according to Cronos words it wasn’t: "You think back to all those NWOHM bands at the time: They all sounded like someone else, with boring riffs and predictable lyrics. We didn’t want to be part of that, even if it meant people didn't like what we were doing at first, coz it was different".

Early age: Cronos created a band called Dwarfstar more rock / metal than punk and with the first signs of Satanic influences, writing song titles such as 'Sons of Satan', 'Bloodlust' and 'Welcome To Hell' and started incorporating pentagrams and dark satanic imagery.

1979 Conrad Lant a.k.a. Cronos (2) [Titan god from the Greek mythology that ate his children], was working at Impulse Studios in Wallsend he met Jeffrey Dunn a.k.a. Mantas (5). Cronos’s goal was to be in a band that plays original material not covers. He switched from rhythm guitar to bassist because the bassist left and stayed that way. At that time Clive "Jesus Christ" Archer was singer, but he was opposed to Satanism and that got him fired. Cronos tried the vocals and the rest of the band preferred him for singing.

1980 On October 10th, Venom recorded the first 6-track demo that got them signed with Neat Records for their first 7’’ ‘In League With Satan’ / Live Like An Angel - Die Like A Devil. Here it must be said that the initial mix of the tracks was made by a Neat engineer that he didn’t understand Venom’s sound and in result it didn’t really sound like them, so Cronos stole the initial tape and replaced it [before the pressing of the EPs] with one of his own mix!

1981 That same year, the band’s debut album, Welcome To Hell was unleashed [in 3 studio days], it wasn’t a true album but a collection of re-recorded demos with a sleeve, which is why there’s such a huge difference in sound quality between 'Welcome To Hell' and the next album.

1982 Having built a strong fan base among those who worshipped extreme metal, Venom returned [in 7 studio days] with their most important album: Black Metal with their original sound, Cronos shaped it as heavy as it could get.

1984 The band’s first UK live performance on June 1, was at the Hammersmith Odeon in London and became a sold-out event. At War With Satan album is released, idea started off as a story that Cronos wrote while he was still at school. It was going to be a Satanic Bible type idea that I wanted to have published as a novel, and then it turned into a concept album. The difference with other albums is that every song is linked into what went before, after all it was a story turn it into an album.

1996 the band reformed as the original line-up with Cronos back in the fold. A self-titled EP was released, followed by albums and the re-release of all of the bands' older classics.

Cronos (Conrad Lant) is the lead singer of the band, with the exception of Tony Dolan (Demolition Man) that handled vocals on 3 albums:

1989 Prime Evil

1991 Temples of Ice

1992 The Waste Lands

..More line-up changes happened, as Cronos left to follow a solo career [to return later again] and Abaddon was forced to re-recruit Mantas (largely missed by the fans) along with fellow British Atomkraft's Tony Dolan (who used the moniker 'Demolition Man' in Venom) and Al Banes, then, in 2014 former Venom members Mantas and Abaddon decided to start up a new band titled Venom Inc. later on, former Venom member, bassist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan, was added to the line-up.

The story still goes on with live performances and new albums..

Dismember Discography

A death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden, formed in April 1988 (initially as Dismemberizer) by David Blomqvist (guitar), Robert Sennebäck (vocals, bass, guitar) and Fred Estby (drums).

Dismember recorded two demo tapes, "Dismembered" in 1988 and "Last Blasphemies" in 1989, after which the band split up as Estby joined Carnage and Blomqvist joined Entombed. After Carnage disbanded Estby, Blomqvist and Kärki reformed Dismember and recorded the "Reborn in Blasphemy" demo in 1991. Then Sennebäck came back and bass player Richard Cabeza joined the band. They were signed to Nuclear Blast and released the debut full-length"Like an Ever Flowing Stream" later in 1991. This was followed by "Indecent And Obscene" in 1993 and "Massive Killing Capacity" in 1995.

After the release of "Death Metal" (1997) Magnus Sahlgren replaced Sennebäck on guitar. Cabeza left the band before the recording of "Hate Campaign" (1999), which featured Sharlee D'Angelo on bass. Cabeza however came back in 2000, but left again after "Where Ironcrosses Grow" was released in 2004. For a while the band operated with one guitarist as Sahlgren left in 2003 and wasn't replaced until 2005 when Martin Persson joined. Founding member Fred Estby left the band in 2007 and was replaced by Thomas Daun. Band's last album to date, "Dismember", was released in 2008.

On October 16th 2011 Dismember announced that they had disbanded. In January 2019 the band announced the comeback of the original line-up.

Agent Steel - Discography (1985-2022)

Agent Steel - Discography (1985-2022)

Agent Steel are a speed metal band from Los Angeles, California that was formed in 1984 by singer John Cyriis and drummer Chuck Profus. The band released two full length albums and one EP before ending in 1988. They were most notable for John Cyriis's high-pitched vocals, catchy songs, melodic riffs and fast tempos mixed in with their unusual (in heavy metal) UFO imagery. The band reformed in 1999 and has released three full length albums since.

History In 1983 a demo was released by a speed metal band named Sceptre which contained two future Agent Steel songs: Taken By Force and 144,000 Gone. The guitarist on this demo was John Camps who is believed to be John Cyriis, a founder of Agent Steel. Taken By Force also appeared on the Metal Massacre IV compilation from Metal Blade.

Destruction - Discography (1985-2022)

Country: Germany

Genre: Thrash Metal

Destruction is a German thrash metal band formed in 1982. They are often credited as one of the "Big Four" of the German thrash metal scene, the others being Kreator, Sodom and Tankard. In addition to helping pioneer black metal by containing several elements of what was to become the genre, Destruction was part of the second wave of thrash metal in the mid-to-late 1980s, along with American bands like Testament, Sacred Reich, Death Angel and Dark Angel.[2] For most of the 1990s, the band was not signed to a record label and was forced to self-produce their albums until they signed a contract with Nuclear Blast in the early 2000s.

(Paul) DiAnno (Solo) - Discography (1984-2000)

Biography

Di'Anno was the first project by Paul Di'Anno after he was fired from Iron Maiden. This group was originally called Lonewolf but after disagreement with a group already called Lone Wolf, they changed their name and ended up recording only one album under the simple moniker of Di'Anno. On the tour Paul refused to play any Iron Maiden songs (much to the dismay of the crowd), playing only their own songs and a few other covers (most notably Van Halen's version of the Kinks' "You Really Got Me," and "Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". Having little success, the six-piece band disbanded shortly after they were done touring.

In 1998 Di'Anno teamed up with expat Brazilian guitarist Paulo Turin and lived in São Paulo during 2000. A new band was created initially under the banner of "Nomad" and featured an all Brazilian line up. Though unconected to the previous project, the name Di'Anno was used again and the style of music was more in line with the work he had done as Paul Di'Anno and Killers.

After only one album with this lin-up, Di'Anno returned to working under his full name.

Sodom - Complete Discography (1984-2014)

Sodom is a German thrash metal band from Gelsenkirchen, formed in 1981. Along with the bands Kreator, Destruction and Tankard, Sodom is considered one of the "The Big Teutonic Four" of Teutonic thrash metal. While three bands (except Tankard) created a sound that would influence death metal and black metal, Sodom's early music style would greatly influence many late-1980s and early-1990s black metal bands more than others.

To date, Sodom has released fourteen studio albums, three live albums, two compilation albums and six EPs. They achieved their first commercial success with their third studio album Agent Orange (1989), which was the first thrash metal album to enter the German album charts, where it reached number 36. Sodom remains one of the best-selling thrash metal acts of all time, having sold over one million records.

Sodom's original line-up consisted of Tom Angelripper, Bloody Monster, Arius "Blasphemer", and Aggressor. The band was initiated by Tom as a desperate attempt to get out of having to work in coal mines in his home town of Gelsenkirchen. Though the band became a real working unit yet only when Chris Witchhunter (Christian Dudek, originally from Essen) had joined the band on drums (replacing Bloody Monster), having had already experience in writing music in some of his previous school-projects and thus coaching the remaining two members how to write proper songs (Arius had also been fired from the band). Taking inspiration from bands such as Motörhead, Venom, Tank, Accept, Rainbow and AC/DC, the group continued as a three-piece in the Motörhead-fashion and released two demos which led to a record deal with Steamhammer. Aggressor left the band shortly before releasing the In the Sign of Evil EP (generally regarded as an important early black metal release), and was replaced by Grave Violator, who himself did not last long, and left following the recording of In the Sign of Evil. Michael "Destructor" Wulf was found as a replacement, after which the band went and recorded Obsessed by Cruelty, their full-length debut featuring music that was mostly in the vein of In The Sign of Evil. Wulf did not last in the band long, and later went and joined Kreator (where he also only had a short stint; he would later die after a tragic motorcycle accident in 1993).

For the most part, Sodom was at first not taken seriously, with various press sources describing them as "a second-rate Venom clone with semi-inventive lyrics". One member would change that. Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik came in to fill the guitar spot Wulf had left behind. Frank convinced Tom that thrash metal was moving beyond horror/occult/satanic themes of bands like Venom to embrace political, societal, and war themes. Tom was already interested in various wars yet remained a peacenik. New inspiration culminated into Frank's full-length debut with the band, Persecution Mania. The new lyrical approach and increased musicianship on the part of Frank gave the band great acclaim (as well as a gas-masked mascot Knarrenheinz, who appeared for the first time on Persecution Mania's cover). They soon embarked on a tour of Europe with the Swiss thrash metal band Coroner. After touring for the better part of 1987 and 1988, the band returned to the studio to make another album. The final product, Agent Orange, sold 100,000 copies in Germany alone. This made Sodom famous, giving them worldwide critical acclaim, and secured their place alongside Kreator and Destruction as one of the great Teutonic thrash metal bands. To this date, Agent Orange has sold more than any other German thrash-metal album in the world.

Problems were brewing inside of the band, however. Tom and Chris descended further into alcoholism. Furthermore, Frank had grown tired of composing music that his band-mates would often perform poorly live. Mille Petrozza of Kreator offered Frank a position with his band, after they lost their second guitarist, and Frank accepted. Angelripper went out looking for a replacement and found Michael Hoffman, formerly of German thrashers Assassin.

With this line-up, the album Better off Dead was released in 1990. During the South American tour however, Hoffman decided to stay in Brazil and was therefore forced to quit. Andy Brings replaced him, and a new album was recorded, Tapping the Vein, with more of a death metal sound. This proved to be the last album with the drummer Witchhunter: He was kicked out of the band, and Atomic Steif formerly of both Holy Moses and Living Death became his replacement behind the drum kit.

The group recorded the album, Get What You Deserve. The death metal influences were out; the influence of punk came in. Get What You Deserve had an arguably grotesque album cover (featuring a dead man shot and lying in his bed with a woman tied-up nearby), and many fans did not take to the band's new direction. This period also marked the beginning of less international visibility for the band as thrash lost its commercial viability for the remainder of the 1990s. Angelripper also started a solo career doing metal impressions of drinking songs, German schlagers and even Christmas-type carols. A live album was recorded of the tour in support of the resulting album called Marooned - Live.

Masquerade in Blood, saw the death metal influences return, as well as some groove metal elements kicking in, but still was pretty much in the same vein as their previous studio effort. It was released in 1995. Again another guitarist had to be found. The new choice, Strahli, did not stay very long with the band. He was arrested and imprisoned on drug-related matters, and the band had since lost contact with him, until January 2011, when they learned he had died in Düsseldorf. Atomic Steif also left and again Angelripper needed to search for new members. These were found: a guitarist in Bernemann and a drummer in Bobby Schottkowski. This line-up stabilized the band significantly and lasted until December 2010, when Schottkowski left.

The album 'Til Death Do Us Unite featured a controversial album cover, depicting a woman's pregnant belly and a man's beer gut pressing in a human skull together. This album marked the beginning of Sodom's return to thrash but was still more along the lines of a thrash-crossover sound and had much in common with bands like Suicidal Tendencies. It also spawned the song for which Sodom would make their most famous music video, the highly-controversial song "Fuck The Police." After this album, Sodom returned to the studio and released Code Red in 1999 which marked a full return to the Teutonic thrash metal sound of the 1980s, and it was met with praise from fans and press alike. A limited edition featured a bonus CD containing a tribute to Sodom album, Homage to the Gods. With 2001 came the release of M-16, a concept album about the movie Apocalypse Now, which took its title from the famed M16 assault rifle.

In 2003, a double live album was recorded in Bangkok, Thailand, titled One Night in Bangkok. A new album simply titled Sodom was released in 2006, in the same vein as M-16. The title was chosen - as Angelripper explained it - because every band needs a self-titled album, and the band had never released one. The album was delayed however, because the DVD Lords of Depravity took more time to compose than initially thought.

In 2007, Tom was asked by the record label Steamhammer for any tracks to be released on the In The Sign Of Evil EP. Tom believed there were, and the label floated the idea to Tom to get ex-members Chris Witchhunter and Grave Violator (real name: Franz Josef "Peppi" Dominik) to re-record the EP with the bonus tracks. The result became The Final Sign of Evil. Chris "Witchhunter" Dudek died on 7 September 2008 from liver failure after a long battle with illness.

In 2009, Sodom returned to the UK to play their first show in 20 years at Bloodstock Open Air.

In War and Pieces, Sodom's thirteenth studio album, was released in Europe on November 22, 2010, and released in North America on January 11, 2011. On November 30, 2010, it was announced that Bobby Schottkowski would be leaving the band, due to "personal and private problems" between Tom Angelripper and Schottkowski.[ On December 8, 2010, Markus "Makka" Freiwald was announced to be Sodom's new drummer.

In late January 2012, Sodom began writing their fourteenth studio album, which they planned to record in May 2012 for a late summer release. On December 17, 2012, the band announced the album would be released on April 29, 2013. The album is titled Epitome of Torture and features 13 tracks. The album was released in Germany on April 26, and in the US on May 7.

In November 2014, Sodom released the EP Sacred Warpath as a preview of their upcoming fifteenth studio album. The EP contains one original studio track, and live versions of three previously released songs.

In the early days Sodom's lyrics focused on Satanic and occult themes but war soon became their main subject. This led some people to think that the band was militarist, but on closer observation the reader would find the lyrics actually being anti-war. In an interview with Metalkings.com Tom Angelripper said: "Why are we writing about war? Because we don’t want war. We wanna describe how bad the war is." The chorus of the song Ausgebombt also gives a very clear message: "No trade with death, No trade with arms, Dispense the war, Learn from the past."

Children Of Bodom Discography

Children of Bodom was a Finnish melodic death metal band from Espoo. Formed in 1993 as Inearthed, the final line-up of the group upon their split in 2019 consisted of Alexi Laiho (lead guitar, lead vocals), Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Henkka Seppälä (bass), Janne Wirman (keyboard), and Daniel Freyberg (rhythm guitar). The band released ten studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, two compilation albums and one DVD.

The band's third studio album, Follow the Reaper, was their first album to receive a gold certification in Finland, and subsequent studio albums acquired the same status. Their next four albums debuted at number one on the Finnish album charts,[1] and have also seen chart positions on the United States Billboard 200. They are one of Finland's best selling artists of all time with more than 250,000 records sold there alone.

In 2019, Children of Bodom held their last concert in Helsinki named A Chapter Called Children of Bodom, before disbanding the band. Laiho and Freyberg carried on as Bodom After Midnight in 2020.[2] Laiho, who was one of the founding members of Children of Bodom as well as the only main songwriter, died on 29 December 2020.

Ozzy Osbourne - Discography

Full Name: John Michael Osbourne

Date of Birth: December 3rd 1948

Place of Birth: Birmingham, England

Parents: Jack and Lillian Osbourne

Siblings: 2 brothers, Paul and Tony - 3 sisters Jean, Iris and Gillian

John Michael Osbourne was born on December 3rd, 1948 in an industrial town in England where he and his five siblings, mother and father, lived in a 2 bedroom house. To say money was tight would be an understatement. Although Ozzy was considered somewhat of a rebel in school, he did take part in many school activities. He participated in school opera-plays such as H.M.S Pinafore, The Mikado, and The Pirates of Penzance, the early signs of his desire to entertain. His first time in jail was for break and enters. He was given a fine, but couldn't pay it, and so was sent to Birmingham's Winson Green Prison for three months. He did time there again later for assaulting a police officer - punching him in the face. It was in Winson Green Prison where he tattooed the now famous letters O-Z-Z-Y across his left knuckles, doing so with a sewing needle and graphite. Ozzy was determined to stay out of jail. Earlier, when he was fourteen, he had been in a band named 'The Black Panthers', and he decided to try music as a career.Later he joined a band called "Approach", but quit shortly after, disliking the band.

After leaving "Approach" he decided to call himself "Ozzy Zig", placing an ad in the local paper and music shop which read "Ozzy Zig requires gig. Owns own PA." Another 18 year old (Terence 'Geezer' Butler) saw Ozzy's ad on a shop bulletin board looked him up. The two then decided to form a band named "Rare Breed" which did two shows and then disbanded.Later on Foemed Black Sabbath.Black Sabbath's first completed album was released on Friday February the thirteenth, 1970.In 1971 Ozzy married his first wife, Thelma, and became stepfather to her son Elliot. It was also the year that the "Master of Reality" album was released. In 1977 Ozzy's father passed away, taking a drastic toll on the singer. Ozzy quit Black Sabbath. His father had always feared that his son would end up in prison, but died knowing that he had made something of himself.

Mortal Sin - Discography (1986 - 2011)

Mortal Sin grew out of the western suburbs of Sydney in the mid 80's and by 1987 had become the country's most important extreme metal act. With original members Campbell, Eftichiou, Maurer, Carwana & Krstin. Mortal Sin rose to the top of the scene with their Metallica inspired debut Mayhemic Destruction, which found favour offshore and won them an international record deal. Shortly after it was released Krstin was replaced by ex-Slaughter Lord member Mick Burke and the band solidified their reputation by supporting Metallica in 1989. Shortly after releasing Face of Despair, Steve Hughes (also ex-Slaughter Lord) replaced Campbell and Mortal Sin toured Europe with Testament and Faith No More, but upon returning home Maurer expressed displeasure with the line-up and left. In 1991 Eftichiou recorded and gigged with a completely different line-up which brought the ire of the rest of the former members who laid claim to the name. Despite a legal dispute, an album and single were released before it ground to a halt. Mortal Sin reformed in late 1996 with four of the original members in Maurer, Campbell, Eftichiou and Carwana along with Anthony Hoffman. Carwana's stay was brief before he was replaced by Troy Scerri. A mini-album Revolution of the Mind was released which featured re-recordings of early songs, reworked demos and two new originals.

In February 2004 Mortal Sin Resurfaced featuring original members Maurer, Campbell, Eftichiou & former Addictive guitarists Joe Buttigieg & Mick Sultana. The first show back was filmed & released on a limited DVD Out of the Darkness. Early 2005 Mortal Sin were inducted into the Hall Of Fame at the Metal for the Brain & Kerrang Australian Heavy Metal Awards. Soon after the band parted ways with original drummer Campbell & guitarist Buttigieg, with replacements found in Luke Cook (drums) & Nathan Shea (guitar). 6 weeks later toured Australia with Metal icons Anthrax. Mortal Sin then entered the studios in October with producer Phil McKellar to record a CD single Out of the Darkness. After a show in Hamburg & an appearance at the infamous Wacken Open Air Festival, The Mortals returned to the studio to complete the long awaited new album. April 2007, The Mortals opened for Slayer & Mastodon then signed with German label Armageddon Music & Riot Entertainment within Australia for the release of An Absence of Faith. Returning to Europe in March 2008 & toured with New York Thrash Kings Overkill, also appearing with Megadeth at Metal Mania & Destruction at Inferno Festival. 4 Months later Mortal Sin returned to Europe once again for the summer festival season, Including Wacken, Jalometalli, Alcatraz & Head Bangers Open Air. Most recently playing supports to Legendary bands such as Judas Priest, Testment, Kreator & a tour through South America in late 2009...Following the departure of Mick Sultana, Mortal Sin found a replacement in Guitarist Ryan Huthnance and has since toured with Overkill. Mortal Sin's new album is in the final stages of production and are expecting a mid 2011 release.
